I realize I pretty much abandoned this site (class, other writing ventures, and laziness) but I am so frustrated by the CMU Men’s Basketball team, and season that I just had to vent, and let it out here, as well as try and provide some perspective on what went wrong, and what lies ahead for this team.

Game Preview: CMU vs Detroit

Trey Zeigler and Ray McCallum, two of the most sought after freshmen in the nation square off Saturday in Mt. Pleasant.

Tomorrow night in a nationally televised contest at McGuirk Arena, the CMU Chippewas (2-7) host the Detroit Titans (6-5). The game is highlighted by two of the most highly sought after freshman guards in the nation, Trey Zeigler for CMU, and Ray McCallum for Detroit. Both of whom passed up scholarship offers from numerous big time schools and opted instead to play for their fathers at smaller schools. The game tips off at 7pm and will be televised nationally on ESPNU.

Chippewas Fall to Wright State 53-49

CMU Fell to 2-7 last night, dropping a close game to Wright State, 53-49

Before we get into the game recap, allow me to apologize for the extreme lack of content here. But now that finals are out of the way, I can get back to posting here regularly.  Moving on, last night CMU returned home to play their second game in the new McGuirk Arena. And just like football season, the basketball team is joining the trend of playing close games, but not being able to pull out a win, dropping a non-conference game to Wright State 53-49, and falling to 2-7 in the process. It was the fourth straight loss for CMU.

CMU Ends Season With 42-31 Loss At Toledo

The first season of CMU Football under new coach Dan Enos came to an end today. CMU had no answer for Toledo WR Eric Page, who accounted for 5 touchdowns, guiding the Rockets to a 42-31 victory over the Chippewas. CMU finishes the season at 3-9 (2-6 MAC).

Chippewas Douse Flames 62-52

Playing the final game of a five game road trip to start the season, CMU ended it the way they started, with a victory.  The Chippewas finally had a more balanced scoring attack, taking the lead with nearly five minutes left in the opening half, and never relinquishing it.  With the win, CMU improves to 2-3 on the season.

Preview: CMU Chippewas at UIC Flames

Tonight, CMU concludes it’s five game road trip to start the season, with a trip to the UIC Pavilion to take on the host Flames of Illinois-Chicago. CMU comes in with a 1-3 record, with two of those losses coming in overtime, and another by 3 points to a good Hawaii team.  UIC comes in at 3-2. Tip-off is set for 8pm EST.

CMU vs Miami: MAC Volleyball Tournament

CMU begins play in the MAC Tournament tonight at 7pm in Finch Fieldhouse

CMU comes into the MAC Volleyball Tournament tonight as the #6 seed, and hosts the Miami Red Hawks, the #11 seed. The match is scheduled to begin at 7pm at Finch Fieldhouse.
